Numbers: Journey to the Promised Land Lesson 6 (Chapters 20-21)
Lesson 6 Striking the Rock… Stay Humble!
From the time the Israelites left Kadesh the first time, until this second trip there, 38 years have passed. Moses is nearly 120 years old, and Joshua is nearly 80. Where have they been all this time? The scriptures give us a list of encampments in Numbers 33... But is that all of the details we have of these wasted years? What happened during these years? Did the people learn to obey God? Were they honored to be his people? Had the children grown into men and women of God?
Many lessons can be found here, in this tucked away section of the scriptures. Such incredible drama! The smiting of the rock, the fiery serpents, the refusal of Edom to allow passage for their brothers, and their first military success in the actual Promised Land!
