Lesson 7: "The Split Rock"

Our first morning out, we were headed to the split rock! Of all the things I wanted to see on the tour, this was one of the top on the list. Grace, John, and I jumped in one of the Forerunners with our Arabian Muslim guide Salim. There were eight white Forerunners in our caravan, and I soon discovered why we were not on a tour bus! Salim spoke excellent English, so John started by questioning him about his life, even before we hit the major highway going west!

As we rounded one very mountainous corner, we came into a large wide open area, and there it was. There was no missing it. Our guide turned to look at us with a childish grin and said,” There it is! The rock of Moses!” Indeed, there it was, sitting on top of a rocky hill, in the middle of a large flat plain, the rock itself six stories high, with a large split down the middle. Marks of water erosion could be seen on the interior parts of the split rock, and then cascading down the hill to the desert floor and beyond!

Don't miss this lesson, it is one of my very favorite! I am sure you will enjoy all of the photos, as well as the lessons learned from this portion of scripture. Enjoy!! For lesson plans, CLICK HERE!
